Budapest, located in the heart of Europe, has been referred to as the “Paris of the East” and as the “Pearl of the Danube.” History has played a large roles in Budapest’s formation, going back over 1000 years. The Romans introduced spa culture to the region, which passed to Attila the Hun and his followers, the Magyars (Hungarians).
Over time, the Turks, Austrians, Germans and Russians each brought their influence and traditions to make Budapest what it is today. Every building and street is infused with the past and the present, creating a very special experience and bringing the history of the region alive.
Budapest is divided into two sections by the Danube: Buda to the West, and Pest to the East. Each side of the city hosts a myriad of sites and wonders, from the castle and caves on the Buda side, to the Parliament and Opera House on the Pest side. Budapest is a beautiful city enriched with history and culture for all to enjoy.
